Probe - Planar

The planar probe calculates the magnetic field on a flat surface specified by two displacement vectors u and v, specified on the Specs page of the probe's edit dialog. On the Grid page parameters nu and nv specify the number of subdivisions in each direction.

By default the contours of field magnitude B are plotted on the configuration window. You can change which quantity is contoured on the Plot page of the edit dialog. Only one result (component or the magnitude of the magnetic field) may plotted at a time. The default plot range is the entire range of calculated fields. The contour spacing by default one-tenth of the plot range, but can be changed by filling in the appropriate box. The quantity contour is the contour spacing in tesla. Contours start at the lower limit of the plot range.

As a new feature, a macro language function can be specified on the Macro page of the edit dialog. To plot the result of the evaluation of the macro, select macroResult on the Plot page.

You can also have the contours plotted in a separate window by checking the apartWindow checkbox on the Plot page of the edit dialog. Also on the plot page you can specify the variable to be plotted.
