Units

BiotSavart uses SI units for magnetics calculations:

Quantity	Units
Length	meter
Current	ampere
Magnetic induction (B)	tesla

Entering lengths

Default unit for length is meter.

If you enter a length without specifying its units, BiotSavart will use the SI length unit, which is the meter. This applies even to naturally small quantities like wire diameters. To use another unit when specifying a length, just enter the symbol for the unit after the numerical quantity. BiotSavart recognizes the following symbols for units of length:

Here is an example of specifying the dimensions of a solenoid with units:

When entering text for a path description the units must come after all of the coordinates of a position vector. Here is an example of a Linear probe specification with units:

resolution 1 mm
start 0 0 0
goto 1.3 0 0 cm
resolution 0.5 mm
goto 1.3 0 2 cm
