The planar view shows a cross section of the lens. This is usually the z-y section, where z is the optical axis and y is the traditional field axis. It is also possible to plot the z-x section. Fans of rays are plotted, this can be for any field, or for all of them. It is also possible to select which wavelength is plotted. This (and more) is set on the Options panel, which is summoned using the Options tool on the toolbar.
