Download LensForge
To download LensForge, click on the link to the disk image file LensForge.dmg.gz on the Ripplon download page. Your browser should then download the file to your desktop (or to where you have reconfigured your browser to download). If it does not, you will have to explicitly request your browser to download it. How you do that will depend on your browser. Everything should proceed automatically from this point to produce a virtual disk called LensForge on your desktop or sidebar.
If the virtual disk is not created, you will need to open the downloaded file manually in the Finder. If it is a .gz file on opening it should decompress and mount automatically. If not you will be left with a .dmg file that you will have to open manually in order to mount.
Open the virtual disk
Open the LensForge 1.1 virtual disk and you should see the following:
- LensForge.app (the program)
- LensForge extras folder, containing
- kidger-triplet (a test lens)
- GOST.AGF (a public-domain ZEMAX glass catalog)
- EDMUND OPTICS.ZMF (a catalog of stock lenses)
- THORLABS.ZMF (a catalog of stock lenses)
Drag LensForge to your Applications directory
Or wherever else you want to keep the program.
Move the LensForge extras folder to your hard drive
Drag the LensForge extras icon to your hard drive. It can go anywhere.
Eject the virtual disk.
Now you are ready to start using LensForge.
